Summary
- "On the Road" wins top prizes at Venice Film Festival
- Film acquired for theatrical release in Taiwan, Spain, and Germany
- Negotiations ongoing for North American distribution

The acclaimed Mexican drama-thriller "On the Road," directed by David Pablos and produced by Inna Payán and "Andor" star Diego Luna, has secured distribution across multiple territories as of October 2025. The film, which premiered in the Horizons section of the Venice Film Festival earlier this year, won both the Horizons Award for best film and the Queer Lion.
Since its Venice debut, "On the Road" has been acquired by Filmware (Taiwan), Festival Films (Spain), and Salzgeber (Germany), all of which include theatrical releases. Negotiations are also advancing in several other territories, including North America, while I Wonder Pictures in Italy had already secured the title prior to its Venice premiere. Additionally, the film is set to premiere at upcoming festivals in Warsaw and Morelia.
Combining a tender love story with the structure of a thriller, "On the Road" offers different layers that broaden its appeal. The film's cinematography captures both the vast landscapes and the authentic world of Mexico's long-haul truckers, following the story of a rebellious young drifter who is drawn into the hyper-masculine world of long-haul trucking across northern Mexico.
