Renowned British actress Samantha Eggar, who received an Oscar nomination for her performance in the 1965 psychological thriller 'The Collector', has passed away at the age of 86. Eggar died at her home in Sherman Oaks, California, on October 15th, 2025, according to a representative for her daughter, actress Jenna Stern.
Stern, best known for her role in the hit series 'House of Cards', paid tribute to her mother, stating that although Eggar had struggled with her health in the last five years, she "lived a long, fabulous life." Eggar's acting career spanned over five decades, with her breakout role coming in 'The Collector' when she was just 25 years old.
In addition to her acclaimed work in 'The Collector', Eggar was also known for her roles in films such as 'Doctor Dolittle', 'The Molly Maguires', and 'Return from the Ashes'. She fondly recalled her time on the set of 'Doctor Dolittle', describing it as a "bliss" experience where she got to dance, sing, and work alongside the legendary Rex Harrison.
