In an exciting development, acclaimed Australian actress Abbie Cornish and Scottish actor Dougray Scott have been tapped to lead the cast of the new South African action thriller series "The Invisible." The series, an eight-part adaptation of Deon Meyer's novel "Blood Safari," is set to premiere in the coming months.
The story follows a mysterious killer who begins executing local poachers in the area surrounding South Africa's Kruger National Park. As the body count rises, local Inspector Jack Phatudi is drawn into a dangerous manhunt to unmask the vigilante. Meanwhile, Dekker, a former bodyguard with a haunted past, is hired to protect Emma, a South African expat who has returned home to search for her long-missing brother.
When Phatudi's investigation collides with Emma and Dekker's quest, they uncover a buried conspiracy reaching back to the political assassination of a pivotal African leader. As powerful forces close in, all three are forced to confront the explosive truth that could rewrite history and that others will kill to keep hidden.
"The Invisible" is directed by Jozua Malherbe and Amy Jephta, and the series is created by acclaimed author Deon Meyer, who serves as an executive producer alongside Cornish and Scott. The production team also includes William Josef Schneider, who led the adaptation, and Tina Kruger as creative executive producer.
