In September 2025, independent production company Finite Films & TV has unveiled its next feature film, a creative collaboration with acclaimed actor Steven Cree. The movie, titled 'Ben & Lucy', is written by and stars Cree, and will be directed by Cora Bissett.
Set in Glasgow, the film follows middle-aged comedian and recovering alcoholic Ben and his estranged daughter Lucy, a troubled art student who is falling into the same patterns of addiction. "Ben is desperate to show Lucy that he has changed and is no longer the unreliable father he once was," reads the plot description. "But Lucy's path of self-destruction leads them to both confront their pain and see how they can stop the cycle of havoc haunting them both."
Cree is set to play the role of Ben, while the casting for Lucy is yet to be announced. Veteran actor Robert Carlyle, known for films like 'The Full Monty' and '28 Weeks Later', is attached to play Dan, Ben's sponsor. Stuart Martin, who has appeared in projects like 'Army of Thieves' and 'Jamestown', is also attached to the film in an undisclosed role.
'Ben & Lucy' is produced by Finite Films founder Amy Gardner, who expressed her excitement about the project. "We are delighted to be working with Steven and Cora on 'Ben & Lucy,'" said Gardner. "They're shaping a film that is both deeply moving, narratively compelling and grounded in authenticity."
