Acapulco Cliff Divers Defy Gravity & Death

The Oscar-contending short film, 'Voices From the Abyss,' offers a stunning glimpse into the lives of Acapulco's famed La Quebrada cliff divers. These daring individuals ascend craggy peaks, leaping into the turbulent ocean from heights comparable to a 10-story building, a pursuit driven by passion rather than profit. The film highlights the immense risks involved, where imperfect dives can have fatal consequences.

Directed by Irving Serrano and Víctor Rejón, the documentary utilizes slow-motion cinematography to capture the ethereal sensation of flight experienced by the divers. Shot in striking black and white, the visuals emphasize the powerful connection between the athletes and the sea, which is portrayed as a character in itself. The film aims to bring the divers' extraordinary, often overlooked, talents to a wider global audience.
