The acclaimed 2002 film 'Aankhen,' starring Amitabh Bachchan and others, has a lesser-known casting secret. Actor Paresh Ganatra revealed that the role of Ilyas, played by Paresh Rawal, was initially intended for him. This character was based on Ganatra's own performance in the Gujarati play 'Aandhro Paato,' which inspired the film.
Upon Amitabh Bachchan's involvement, the film's production scale was significantly elevated. Director Vipul Shah informed Ganatra about the necessary adjustments. Understanding the change, Ganatra requested a role in the movie, leading to him being cast as Shailesh. This performance was well-received and remembered by audiences.
Ganatra's role as Shailesh in 'Aankhen' proved to be a turning point. Following the film's release, director Anees Bazmee approached Ganatra for the film 'No Entry.' Bazmee initially offered him a small part, but Ganatra's talent led to his role being expanded significantly within the movie.
