Paramount Pictures has shifted the release strategy for "The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender," opting for an exclusive debut on Paramount+ in the fall of 2026. This decision moves the highly anticipated fantasy adventure away from a traditional theatrical run. The streaming service will also host the new series, "Avatar: Safe Havens," further solidifying its role as the home for the animated "Avatar" universe.
The film will delve into the young adult years of Aang, several years after the events of the original show. Steven Yeun is set to voice Zuko, with Dave Bautista also joining the cast. Other notable voice actors include Dionne Quan as Toph, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, and Eric Nam as Aang. The expanded cast also features Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Freida Pinto, Ke Huy Quan, and Peta Sergeant in undisclosed roles.
Directed by Lauren Montgomery, Steve Ahn, and William MataIt, the movie is produced by Latifa Ouaou and Maryann Garger, alongside original creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. This release represents the inaugural film project from Nickelodeon's Avatar Studios, promising new adventures and emotional depth for fans of the franchise.
