66-Year-Old Actor Hosts Podcast to Connect with Gen Z

As of November 2025, 66-year-old actor Kyle MacLachlan has become a social media darling over the past four years. He is now hosting a podcast called "What Are We Even Doing?" where he interviews Millennial and Gen Z creators about their lives, careers, and paths to success.

MacLachlan's motivation for the podcast stems from a true curiosity to learn more about younger generations. He wanted to understand what was important to Gen Z and young Millennials, as he admits he didn't know much about them. MacLachlan says he didn't want to be one of those people who turns a blind eye to the younger generation, so the podcast was partly a process of discovery for him.

The podcast, which airs every Tuesday on iHeart Media, was also partly driven by MacLachlan's own 17-year-old Gen Z son, Callum. Through the interviews, MacLachlan has gained a newfound appreciation for the hard work and authenticity of these young creators. He finds that they are not relying on someone with more power, but are solely responsible for creating and sharing their personalities online.

MacLachlan encourages others, especially those from Gen X or the Boomer generation, to not be afraid of technology and social media. He believes that with a little effort, people can find ways to engage and communicate, whether it's with a few friends or the general public.
