3 Sheeps Brewing Company in Sheboygan has been chosen to create Wisconsin's official beer for the United States' 250th anniversary. The brewery's craft golden lager, named 'Stay Golden,' will represent the state during the semiquincentennial celebrations. This selection was made by the Wisconsin America250 Commission.
'Stay Golden' holds a special significance as it pays homage to Kingsbury Beer, a brewery formerly owned by the founder's family. Grant Pauly, the brewmaster at 3 Sheeps, has family members who were historically involved with Kingsbury Beer, including his great-grandfather, grandfather, and great uncle.
For this commemorative occasion, 3 Sheeps has updated 'Stay Golden' with limited-edition patriotic packaging. The design incorporates red, white, and blue colors, a patriotic stovetop hat, and a new tagline, 'Proudly Independent Since 1776,' replacing the original 'From Wisconsin, For Wisconsin.' This special version is available at the 3 Sheeps taproom and select retailers until Labor Day.
