Emmys Move to Monday for NFL Showdown
14 Sep
Summary
- The 2026 Emmys ceremony will air on Monday, September 14.
- The move is due to the Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants game.
- NBC and Peacock need to broadcast both the NFL game and the Emmys.
The 78th Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 14, 2026, a departure from its usual Sunday evening slot. This adjustment is necessary to avoid a scheduling conflict with a live NFL game.
NBC and Peacock, who are broadcasting this year's Emmys under a rotation agreement, also hold the rights to NFL Sunday Night Football. The scheduled game features the Dallas Cowboys playing against the New York Giants on Sunday, September 13.
To accommodate both broadcasts, the Emmys ceremony has been moved to the following day. This is not unprecedented, as NBC has previously aired the Emmys on Monday nights to avoid similar conflicts with Sunday Night Football, such as in 2022 and 2017.
